Hypnosis in Therapy

Hypnosis is not well understood by the general public.

Hypnosis is different for different people. While in hypnosis you are aware of where you are and what is going on around you. People with whom this approach has been used are surprised as to how easy it is. It is not the “quack like a duck” hypnosis they expected Rather it is a very relaxing focusing experience.

In Hypnosis people don’t do anything that is contrary to their basic nature or beyond their personal comfort level. This process helps people achieve a calm, serene, peaceful focus. You are in a state of mind where you can think more clearly and can easily become aware of answers to the issues with which you are struggling. Hypnosis is not a cure all. It is a tool to help you get past your conscious resistances.

Whether it is a problem with anxiety or depression or with a spouse or addictions there are things that we are not consciously aware of. This lack of really understanding ourselves stops us from changing and moving ahead in our lives. Because you are not easily able to identify what the origins and real barriers to change you are not able to solve the problem. The idea is to get past very deeply embedded patterns.

To discover and redirect those patterns, we need to go beyond conventional talking. Too often therapists try to help by convincing or logic their clients out of their problems. Hypnosis goes beyond our logical self to our emotional self.

Though hypnosis is not a total answer to every problem, it can break through barriers that traditional therapy is unable to do.
